The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, with around 44,000 students and approximately 5,700 staff members, is one of the largest universities in Germany. The research group "Cybersecurity" at the Department of Computer Science of Goethe University Frankfurt is seeking to fill the following position at the earliest possible date:
Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) (E 13 TV-G-U)
This call is aimed at candidates holding a PhD degree. The classification is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).
The "Cybersecurity" research group is led by Prof. Dr. Haya Schulmann. The group focuses on all aspects of system and network security. It develops innovative cybersecurity and privacy protection solutions, also in cooperation with partners from industry and politics. Much of the research is carried out in collaboration with leading academic and industrial institutions worldwide. The group works closely with the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity ATHENE and the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology (SIT) in Darmstadt.
We are looking for motivated and qualified candidates to strengthen our team and research activities.
Your responsibilities:
- Scientific research in cybersecurity with a focus on system and network security
- Independent development of a personal research focus within the scope of the chair’s cybersecurity topics, including relevant and preferably high-ranking publications
- Leading acquisition and planning of research projects in both academia and industry, nationally and internationally
- Preparation of funding applications and project descriptions, negotiation with funding bodies, independent setup and management of a research group, preparation of project reports and scientific publications
- Presentation of research results in publications, audits, and presentations at national and international academic conferences
Your profile:
- Completed university degree in computer science or a related discipline
- Practical experience and solid knowledge in the field of cybersecurity
- High intrinsic motivation and performance-oriented working style
- Willingness to work in an international and excellence-driven research environment
- Very good command of German and English, and willingness to improve language skills through intensive language training if necessary
- Participation in university teaching

This call is aimed equally at candidates who have completed a Master’s degree and intend to pursue a doctorate, as well as those who already hold a PhD and wish to advance their academic career.

- Very good communication skills in German and English, and willingness to attend intensive language courses if needed
